We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Credit Modelling Actuary to join our Credit Modelling team.

The role

You will play a leading role in the development and maintenance of our Solvency II Internal Model actuarial credit methodologies for the Life companies, which underpin the Phoenix Balance Sheet. You will lead work with our Asset Management investment and credit rating specialists to ensure we are capturing the appropriate risks in the Internal Model and can support them through strong analytics / validation evidence.

You will ensure that the methodology developments support and are aligned to the Group risk strategy as well as identify, lead or support with the development and implementation of methodology changes that improve the capital efficiency of Phoenix’s Internal Model.

You will review the impact of relevant emerging regulations and developments within the industry and work with the team to report to the business on the implications of developments as they emerge. You will lead the education of the business on credit risk and associated Solvency II methodologies.

What are we looking for?

  • A qualified Actuary with some experience of internal models or credit risk.
  • Familiarity with insurance and investment risk, and capital management.
  • An understanding of SII requirements.
  • Great analytical skills.
  • Great stakeholder management and communication skills, being able to influence and build lasting relationships at all levels across the business.
