The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a senior position within our amazing Theatres Complex as an In-Patient Theatre Matron! We are looking for an inspirational, dynamic and experienced leader who can bring enthusiasm and energy to lead the Non-Elective theatres, Orthopaedic theatres and Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit services.

The successful candidate will be part of the leadership team with responsibility for the strategic direction of the Theatre Complex. They will have experience of driving change to deliver safe and effective patient care in new and innovative ways. As Matron, you will be fully accountable for the Emergency, obstetric and orthopaedic theatres.
You will be joining a dynamic department with an outstanding team of staff delivering high quality care, 7 days a week. Your responsibilities will encompass Human Resources management, cost improvement, service development, training and education and delivery of key performance indicators relating to the quality and safety standards across the department. You will also contribute to the divisional Matron team who support daily operational activities and affect change across the wider trust; whilst also contributing to the strategic direction for the division and organisation as a whole.

- You will also be accountable for the Emergency, obstetric and orthopaedic theatres, as well as our PD&E team, outreach services and rebranded Post-anaesthetic care unit (formerly Recovery)

- Provide clinical leadership and to have responsibility for the management of clinical services throughout the Department with clinical responsibility and accountability for all nursing and technical staff.
- Liaise with senior nurses and managers to provide a corporate approach to management of nursing services and standards of patient care.
- Provide a specialist contribution to the teaching of nurses and other healthcare workers enabling all staff to be supported in caring for patients throughout the hospital.
- Support the Operational Managers in the management of waiting lists and ensure that the theatre resource is used to the maximum.
- Work with the Department Operational Managers and Clinicians to encourage the move of suitable procedures from inpatients to day cases according to targets set by the Modernisation Agency, Royal College of Surgeons, and BADS.
- Liaise with Ward / Theatre Sisters and DPU Manager to ensure adequate staffing cover across all Departments.
- Communicate with all staff within areas of responsibility to ensure they feel informed, involved and have an opportunity to contribute to development of services in the Department.
- Influence and implement educational strategies within the Department
- Contribute to corporate policy making and strategy
- Provide leadership in the implementation of Trust wide approach to Clinical Governance and Risk Management.
- Formulate policies and share good practice. Ensure effective roll out policies and adherence to agreed standards. Update policies as appropriate and effectively communicate changes throughout the trust.
