What's involved with this role:
Interim Landscape Architect (PT) Reference no: Basingstoke RQ900095 Pay Rate: £30 per hour PAYE Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months A Landscape Architect is required to be responsible for designing and managing improvements to our open spaces that have a positive impact on people’s quality of life. Managing all aspects of projects from concept to completion, you’ll get involved with community consultations, co-ordinate tenders and oversee implementation of works on site. The role will also see the post holder acting as consultee on planning applications to shape future developments in the borough. Key responsibilities:
  • Design and implement new landscape, environmental improvement, play and regeneration schemes in the Borough. Including the preparation of drawings, specifications and schedules/Bills of Quantities, the inspection of works onsite, and administrative and cost control aspects of all contracts.
  • Co-ordinate the consultation process on each scheme, in liaison with the relevant client officer if appropriate, including the production of all exhibition material and the attendance at public meetings.
  • Prepare briefs for the engagement of consultants for landscape/urban regeneration schemes.
  • Achieve improvements in the urban and rural environment by working in partnership with people in the public, private, voluntary and business sectors, via grant aid and business sponsorship.
  • Assist in the development of major strategies and regeneration projects, including the preparation of exhibition and presentation material.
  • Give advice on the landscape and play aspects of planning applications.
  • Appear as a professional witness at Informal Hearings and Planning Appeals.
  • Keep abreast of latest professional standards and technical developments ensuring that service delivery complies with current regulations, accepted professional standards, policies and procedures and appropriate legislation (including legislation on data protection, equalities, health and safety and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults)
  • Monitor and review the performance of contractors.

  • Experience of technical skills associated with the relevant service area.
  • Experience of developing good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external bodies and customers as part of developing effective service delivery.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Proven team management skills.
  • Ability to manage budget lines, and skills to minimise budget under/overspends.
