I am working with a Government Department who are looking for a PAYE Tax Specialist for 7 months based in Westminster.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying up to £540 Umbrella per day. The role is in scope of IR35.

The role is hybrid and you will need to be in the office in Westminster 3 days a week.

The role

We need a Tax Specialist to carry out IR35 and dual location duties. To review IR35 policies, analyse, monitor each process to ensure compliance at all levels, including dual work location rules and policies across the department. analyse expenses to match dual work location issues, identify gaps and make recommendations. lead on all PAYE issues liaising and collaborating with all stakeholders. carry out other tax head issues assigned to them e.g. VAT and customs duties and ad hoc responsibilities when necessary.

Responsibilities:
  • Carry out IR35 and dual location duties
  • Review IR35 policies, analyse, monitor each process to ensure compliance at all levels, including dual work location rules and policies across the department
  • Analyse expenses to match dual work location issues, identify gaps and make recommendations
  • Lead on all PAYE issues liaising and collaborating with all stakeholders
  • Carry out other tax head issues assigned to them e.g., VAT and customs duties
  • Ad-hoc responsibilities, when necessary, potentially across non-employment related Tax Heads

Essential Criteria:
  • Tax experience either from HMRC or big 4 or relevant tax qualification
  • Strong understanding of UK Tax legislation across all Tax Heads to include PAYE, VAT, Customs & Duties, and Corporation Tax etc.
  • In-depth Knowledge of IR35 Legislation and ability to advise line managers on completing an accurate status determination for all contract roles
  • Strong understanding of UK Employment law around Dual Location workers, and the implications this has for the employer and employees
  • Strong record keeping experience to enable effective and efficient auditing
  • Highly computer literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office products (including SharePoint), ERPs and Accounting software to record and communicate all relevant information
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills at all levels of seniority

Desirable Criteria:
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role in the Public Sector
  • A Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA) qualification or equivalent
