We are pleased to be offering the opportunity for an enthusiastic HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist to join our Specialist Biochemistry Team. The Biochemistry department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust comprises laboratories supporting both local and regional specialist services including Trace Element analysis, Sweat Testing, Inborn Errors of Metabolism, Immunosuppressant monitoring, Immunochemistry and Trisomy Screening.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and well-motivated individual who is able to work as an effective team member.
Bringing with you technical knowledge in biochemistry, you will help lead a team of qualified staff and play a key role in the implementation and validation of equipment and new methodologies. Working closely with the Senior Management Team you will play a vital part in ensuring a high quality patient-led service is provided by the Specialist sections and you will maintain and contribute to services provided by the Department in terms of standards, quality, clinical effectiveness, audit and training.

The department holds UKAS ISO:15189 accreditation and is an IBMS and National School of Healthcare Science accredited training centre for BMS, STP and HSST trainees.
The role will be based at Nottingham City Hospital but the successful applicant will be expected to work across both City and QMC campuses to cover authorisation rotas as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As a state-registered Clinical Scientist, working towards, or with Part 1 of the Royal College of Pathologists, the post-holder will participate in the department’s clinical advisory and reporting service and other responsibilities as may arise within the department. The post holder will take a leading role in the Specialist Chemistry section (comprising of Immunosuppressants, Trace Elements, Trisomy and Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) and Metabolic) working across both Nottingham City and Queen’s Medical Centre Clinical Biochemistry departments. Additionally the post-holder will participate in the routine and Saturday morning Duty Biochemist rota, reporting results and providing specialist advice and support to users of the Department’s services. They will also maintain and contribute to the services provided by the Department in terms of standards, quality and clinical effectiveness, audit and training.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
