Binnies, and RSK company are recruiting Project Design Leads to lead engineering teams based in Central Scotland and the South of England. The engineering teams deliver innovative engineering solutions for projects within our frameworks supporting the Scottish Water, Southern Water and Thames Water AMP programmes. The Project Design Lead will be accountable for the planning, co-ordination and execution of engineering solutions to scope, cost and programme to meet our Client’s requirements.

We have offices in Redhill, Bradford-on-Avon, Birmingham, Glasgow, Chester or we can support more home based professionals but the ability to travel to various offices and project sites is essential

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure that health and safety in design development is at the forefront of our work
  • Plan, execute, monitor and control engineering output for projects in terms of scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, and stakeholder management
  • Balance the needs of multiple projects
  • Provide leadership to the project team engineers & be responsible for the overall technical coordination and production of multi-disciplinary outputs and designs within a digital environment
  • Actively coordinate with all other internal/external project team members including procurement, construction and commissioning teams
  • Participate in or lead client meetings
  • Work with supply chain and undertake technical analysis of such
  • Cost forecasting
  • Ensure engineering team understand & apply relevant quality system, design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes and Binnies policies and procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
  • Typically oversees performance management, mentoring, recognition, learning and development and any corrective actions

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering
  • Motivated to deliver engineering solutions for Water, wastewater & sludge treatment projects
  • Previous experience in a technical engineering lead (design) role on projects
  • Experience of working in the Design & Build environment with partnering contractors to deliver the successful implementation of engineering solutions
  • Good understanding of digital engineering and its use in the delivery of projects
