We are currently recruiting to an exciting opportunity for 8 x Residential Support workers to work in the Falkland Islands for a minimum of 6 months

As part of a team your role would be to assist a Young Adult in a residential environment. You will be required to provide advice, assistance and support to allow a person with special needs, and to attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs, in accordance with their individual care plans.

You would work to a roster shift system, with an unsocial hours requirement.

The Falkland Islands are located in the South Atlantic, and consist of rugged terrain and cliff-lined coasts. As an English-speaking nation, the Islands consist primarily of Falklanders of British descent. The role would be based in Stanley, as is the Island's hospital. Stanley is the hub of the Island and has many cultural sites, including the Falkland Islands Museum and National Trust. The British heritage within Stanley is plentiful where you will find quintessential British pubs, bright red mailboxes, and well-kept gardens are abundant. Sporting activities are also popular on the islands and include football, bird-watching, horseback riding, and fishing. If nature is your thing, The Falklands are home to around 65 species of birds, including the black-browed albatrosses and peregrine falcons, amongst others, and you will never struggle to see the Islands several million penguins, whilst you’re out and about. The surrounding sea is also home to whales, Dolphins, and Porpoises with southern sea lions and elephant seals also common to see in the surrounding areas.

This is an opportunity to work in a very small community of under 3000 people most of whom live in Stanley. There are no long commutes to work with almost everything being within easy walking distance. They have a very different pace of life to mainland UK and it is a wonderful, safe environment for bringing up children.

All travel, accommodation, and work permit arrangements would be made for you, with full support throughout your period of employment.
