Our clients trust us to bring together the best people, ideas, technical expertise and digital solutions to our work in transportation, buildings, water, the environment and new energy. We’re one global team – 47,000 strong – driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world.
Here, you will have freedom to grow in a world of opportunity.
AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner/ Senior Engineer to join our Development Planning and Management team in the Southeast. We are looking to enhance and grow our team with an individual who has a strong technical background and shares our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding and varied workload. We offer a friendly and enjoyable working environment, and the role would suit an enthusiastic Transport Planner who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Our wider Development Planning and Management team spans several offices across the Southeast and works with private and public sector clients, architects, planners and other development professionals across all sectors throughout the development life cycle: providing services from initial site feasibility and due diligence through to completion.
This role, therefore, offers the opportunity to work with colleagues from different offices, as well as teams from various professions, on a diverse and interesting range of projects. Typically, we undertake transport-related work in support of our clients’ planning application submissions, including documents such as Transport Assessments/ Statements, Travel Plans, Delivery and Servicing Plans, Construction Traffic Management Plans and Preliminary Design work, as well as assisting them in site masterplan development. Another element of our work is the review of such documents on behalf of highway authorities and, in particular, National Highways as part of the National Highways Spatial Planning Contract.
Our projects cover a full range of land uses, including mixed-use developments, residential, commercial, education and energy schemes. A significant part of the workload of the team focuses on the specialism of road safety auditing/ engineering, and therefore an interest (or, better still, any experience or qualification) in road safety auditing and engineering would be desirable, although not essential as training can be provided. This role is, therefore, well suited to those looking to develop their road safety experience or to broaden their existing skillset.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven background in development-related transport analysis and assessment. We would expect strong communication skills, which we would continue to develop and experience of, or a willingness to, help develop junior staff. We are looking for someone who is looking at the opportunities available to further develop their career and is enthusiastic about working on a range of projects which support development at various stages of its life.

Mentoring junior staff and supervising work carried out by junior members of the Development Planning team, ensuring that it is to the appropriate technical standard and is delivered to programme and budget, supporting the preparation of fee proposals for new projects and working with the Team Leader and Project Managers to ensure projects are delivered to budget and that KPIs are met.
