This is an exciting opportunity to join the Medical Administration team based at Abbeyfield Court.

The post holder will play a key central role within Medical administration and the speciality you will be allocated to ensuring the successful running of the service liaising with NHS colleagues, patients and the General Public.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a well established team, the post holder will support the provision of a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to consultants, SPR's and nurse practitioners. The post holder will be required to undertake a variety of administrative duties including the monitoring of patient results in line with the patient pathways.

The post holder must exercise initiative to organise their own workload and work within defined deadlines.

The Medical Administration team is based at Abbeyfields and the PA role is an integral part of this team.

Annual leave starts at 27 days per year, plus bank holidays

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Accurately transcribe clinical letters using Winscribe, producing high quality work within defined deadlines.

Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of task within defined deadlines.

Establish and maintain admin systems/databases.

Deal with incoming mail, results/reports management.

Monitoring of clinician’s results spreadsheets ensuring results are dealt with in a timely manner ensuring no unnecessary delay to the patient pathway.

Attending meetings where required and taking minutes.

Ensure RTT patient data quality is accurate.

Checking RTT 18 week clocks and stopping clocks where required.

Key point of contact for the consultant.

Communication link to management team regarding consultant annual leave.

Managing consultant annual leave, cancelling clinics and moving patients where required.

Dealing with consultant queries and where appropriate managing consultant Diary.

Telephone calls inbound and outbound relating to patient specific care in a confidential manner.

Typing of non-clinical letters as required.

Rescheduling of appointments at Clinician request

Liaise with waiting list coordinator to ensure patients are treated within breach dates

Support and mentor new staff.

Provide cover for PA colleagues during times of sickness and annual leave.

Line Management of PPA staff

Share responsibility with line manager for own personal development.

Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required.

Essential criteria

  • Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Able to demonstrate a good standard of education 5+ GCSE's

Desirable criteria

  • GSE/GCSE or equivalent English Language pass

Experience
