We’re excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious Web Developer to join our small, but mighty team of creatives here at Peekaboo.

We are a design and development studio based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, producing award-winning work to a number of amazing clients, large and small across the world.

Working in support of our Senior Web Developer to develop projects for new and existing clients, as well as helping in the maintenance of existing websites and updating of content. You’ll be involved in the full life cycle of a project from planning and build, to testing and technical support.

Our Senior Web Developer will offer guidance on each project, but need you to be confident enough to work independently, especially when deadlines are tight or extra support is needed. You’ll also work closely with our design team, implementing design ideas or suggesting new web technologies to adopt.

You’ll do...

• Develop for a broad range of projects across a number of digital formats in support of our Senior Developer
• Support and maintain existing client websites with updates, fixes and content amends
• Work directly with clients, taking projects from concept to completion remaining in continuous contact throughout
• Present ideas and work for approval, both internally and externally
• Maintain a consistent and high level of work on all projects

We’re looking for...

• Solid understanding of web development practices and methodology
• WordPress experience - Theme/Plugin development
• Ability to present and generate strong, appropriate ideas, based on a client brief
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Keen to progress, learn and adapt to new situations and challenges
• Ability to understand and discuss basic business and technical requirements
• PHP & MySQL
• Basic JavaScript knowledge and frameworks
• Knowledge of various PHP frameworks e.g. Laravel, CodeIgniter
• HTML5, CSS and SASS

Desired but not required...

• Some commercial/industry experience
• App development
• Experience with modern JavaScript libraries e.g. React, VueJS
• Cloud experience
• Tailwind
• Linux hosting environments e.g. Plesk, cPanel
• REST API experience
• Workflow experience such as Git / Github
